Another walking day - this time at nearby Ashton Court estate - admiring the beautiful fallow deer.
I really need a decent 'wildlife' lens for small things (like birds) and faraway things (like deer-at-a-distance).

365:014 Blossom
Despite the weather forecast, we had a wonderful day out at the Westonbirt Arboretum. The springtime magnolias were out and the place was full of the sweet chirping of songbirds out to entice mates for the season.
Here's a few more favourites from the day:

"standing 'neath a tree and waitin' for the bus..."
Off all the photos I took today, some how this one was the most compelling.

"Don't take my photo ... I'm shy ..."
Psycho kitty Maple has become a lot more genteel since we saw her last, six months ago ...
Here's some more of her:

365:005 Rain on the windscreen
As a child, long journeys on wet days always meant following the trails of rain drops as they slid up the windscreen ... very calming I find ...
On the way to London for Easter weekend.

365:003 Ghost
Next to the SS Great Britain is the Maritime Heritage Center. It wasn't open today as I walked past it towards the ship itself to do some research on a current project. As I wondered past one of its full height narrow windows, I almost jumped out of my skin when this fellow suddenly appeared looming above me!
It was so bright and sunny outside that you couldn't see the other side of the windows until you came right up close. Lifesize model of a horse - and three more one window along. Man did he give me a fright ...so I had to take a picture. The flag pole and clouds are actually reflections in the window ...

365:001 Slimbridge
Today I start on my project 365. Its my birthday and to celebrate we went to the Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. This was taken there - its a moorhen with some mighty wonky feet. I love how its claws look so metallic!
